Lisbon is the stunning capital of Portugal and is one of the most charismatic and vibrant cities in Europe. It is a city that effortlessly blends traditional heritage, with striking modernism and progressive thinking. 

Greca Tip: Lisbon is probably best known for its colonialist history, ornate architecture, and tradition of Fado music. But some of its best features are in the everyday spectacular hilltop views in Alfama or at St. George's Castle, pleasant year-round weather, and friendly locals.

After enjoying a delicious breakfast, we will set off towards the heart of Portugal’s heritage, embarking on a journey that will take us through centuries of history and devotion.

Our first stop is the enchanting town of Óbidos, a medieval jewel embraced by ancient walls. As we stroll its cobbled streets, you will have the chance to taste the famous ginjinha, a local cherry liqueur served in chocolate cups—a sweet tradition that captures the town's charm.

We then continue to Alcobaça, where the monumental Gothic church shelters the tragic love story of King Pedro and Inês de Castro, immortalized in their facing tombs.

Next, we reach Nazaré, a coastal village renowned for its towering waves, colorful fishing boats, and strong maritime traditions. Here, the sea and culture blend into a singular atmosphere.

Our journey proceeds to the majestic Monastery of Batalha, a masterpiece of Gothic art and the resting place of Prince Henry the Navigator, one of Portugal’s most iconic explorers.

We end the day in Fátima, one of the world’s most important pilgrimage destinations. Here, you will have the opportunity to participate in spiritual moments and experience the serene devotion that defines this sacred site.

After enjoying a delicious breakfast at the hotel, we leave behind the serene spirituality of Fátima and set off toward the cultural heart of Portugal.

Our morning brings us to Coimbra, a city that echoes with the legacy of scholars and poets. We will admire the University of Coimbra, one of the oldest in Europe, and its stunning baroque library, a true treasure trove of knowledge. A visit to the Church of Santa Clara-a-Nova will reveal the tomb of Queen Santa Isabel, famed for the miracle of the roses. We will also wander the charming streets of the historic center, filled with echoes of medieval life.

Continuing our journey, we arrive in Aveiro, a city of canals and colorful boats affectionately known as the “Venice of Portugal.” Here, you’ll see the elegant Moliceiros gliding along the waterways and have the chance to taste the delightful ovos moles, a sweet local delicacy wrapped in tradition.

We conclude the day in the vibrant city of Porto, where the Douro River and rich history set the tone for the evening.

Greca Tip: In Coimbra, listen for traditional fado performed by university students—Coimbra’s version of fado is poetic, melancholic, and entirely unique.

After a delicious breakfast at the hotel, we begin our morning immersed in the charm of Porto, a city that rises with elegance along the right bank of the Douro River.

Our panoramic exploration will reveal landmarks such as the neoclassical Palácio da Bolsa, home to the exquisite Arab Room, and the Church of São Francisco, whose interiors dazzle with opulent gilded woodwork. As we wander through the traditional Bairro da Ribeira, you’ll sense the soul of the city in its narrow streets and intricate filigree craftsmanship. We will also visit one of the city’s renowned Port wine cellars, where a tasting introduces us to this emblematic Portuguese tradition.

In the afternoon, we venture into the Minho region, a land where legends and faith are carved into stone. Our journey takes us to Guimarães, regarded as the birthplace of Portugal, where we’ll admire the Royal Castle and the stately Palace of the Dukes of Bragança.

Our final stop is Braga, known as the “Rome of Portugal.” Here, we’ll visit the city’s ancient cathedral and the striking Sanctuary of Bom Jesus do Monte, with its iconic baroque staircase ascending through lush greenery.

We conclude the day by returning to Porto, to have some rest in our accommodation.

After a delicious breakfast at the hotel, you will have the day free to continue exploring the captivating city of Porto, known as the “Invicta” for its enduring spirit and history.

You may choose to stroll through the cobbled streets of the historic center, discover architectural treasures such as the Lello Bookstore or São Bento Station, and enjoy the lively ambiance along the Douro River. Porto’s charm is found both in its grand monuments and its simple daily rhythms.

Alternatively, you may opt for an optional full-day excursion to Santiago de Compostela, one of the most important pilgrimage destinations in the world. Located in northern Spain, this UNESCO World Heritage Site is famed for its majestic cathedral, said to house the remains of Saint James the Apostle. You'll have time to explore its sacred plazas, admire Romanesque and baroque architecture, and absorb the spiritual atmosphere that defines this historic city.

After a delicious breakfast at the hotel, we leave Porto behind and journey into the verdant heart of northern Portugal, where rivers whisper stories and vineyards blanket the hillsides.

Our first stop is the picturesque town of Amarante, nestled along the Tâmega River. Here, we’ll visit the Convent of São Gonçalo, dedicated to the patron saint of marriage, and admire the town’s charming architecture and pastry shops, famous for their traditional convent sweets—a delight to both eyes and palate.

We continue to Vila Real, where we will stroll through the enchanting gardens of Mateus Palace, a baroque masterpiece known for its sculpted hedges and aromatic blooms.

Next, we venture through the Douro Valley, the cradle of Porto wine, where terraced vineyards embrace the rolling landscape. A stop in Lamego allows us to admire the imposing Sanctuary of Nossa Senhora dos Remédios, majestically perched above a monumental staircase.

Our day concludes in Viseu, in the heart of the Dão wine region, where we honor the memory of Viriatus, a Lusitanian hero, and visit the city's historic cathedral, rich in medieval charm.

We will stay overnight in Urgeiriça, a small village next to Viseu.

After a delicious breakfast at the hotel, we begin our final stretch through Portugal’s storied interior, where nature, nobility, and mysticism intertwine.

Our first stop is Bussaco, a magical enclave nestled in a mountain forest. Here, we’ll admire the Bussaco Palace, a former royal hunting lodge turned neo-Manueline masterpiece, surrounded by lush vegetation and exotic trees planted by monks centuries ago. The air here carries the whispers of ancient paths and royal secrets.

We then continue to Tomar, a city steeped in history and deeply connected to the Knights Templar. Our highlight is a guided visit to the Convent of Christ, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where circular towers, intricate stonework, and hidden chapels tell tales of power and faith.

After a leisurely lunch and some time to explore the historic center, we return to Lisbon, where the journey comes full circle in the lively Portuguese capital.

Greca Tip: In Tomar, be sure to try fatias de Tomar, a local dessert made with egg yolks, slowly cooked in a Bain-Marie—simple yet divine, much like the city itself.
