Breakfast marks the beginning of a remarkable journey into the heart of the Canadian Rockies, where vast landscapes and untouched nature define the day ahead. Departing Calgary, we travel north through gently rolling foothills that gradually transform into dramatic mountain scenery, revealing the immense scale and beauty of western Canada.
Our route leads us through Banff National Park, the country’s first national park and a protected area renowned for its pristine wilderness. Towering peaks rise above dense alpine forests, while rivers and valleys carve their way through the landscape, creating a setting of extraordinary natural harmony. This region is not only visually stunning but also ecologically rich, offering a habitat for a wide variety of wildlife.
As we continue along this scenic corridor, it is common to encounter animals in their natural environment. Elk, moose, mountain goats, and even bears may appear along the route, adding a sense of excitement and authenticity to the experience.
By late afternoon we arrive in Hinton, a welcoming mountain town located near Jasper National Park. Surrounded by forests and close to some of the region’s most impressive natural areas, it provides a peaceful setting to unwind. The evening is free to enjoy dinner at leisure, allowing time to relax and prepare for the adventures that lie ahead.
Greca Tip: Banff National Park, established in 1885, is Canada’s oldest national park and part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Breakfast sets the tone for a day defined by one of the most extraordinary scenic drives in North America. We depart Jasper and begin our journey along the legendary Icefields Parkway, a route that reveals the raw beauty of the Canadian Rockies through a succession of glaciers, turquoise lakes, and towering peaks.
As we travel south, the landscape unfolds in dramatic fashion, offering continuous panoramic views shaped by ancient ice and rugged terrain. We make a stop at Athabasca Falls, where powerful glacial waters surge through a narrow canyon, creating an impressive display of force and movement that highlights the region’s dynamic geology.
Continuing onward, we arrive at the Glacier Discovery Centre for a truly memorable experience. Here we board the iconic Ice Explorer, an all-terrain vehicle designed to navigate the glacier, allowing us to step onto the Athabasca Glacier itself and stand on ice formed thousands of years ago. The journey continues to the Glacier Skywalk, a glass-floored platform suspended high above the Sunwapta Valley, offering sweeping views of the surrounding mountains and valleys.
Later, we enter Banff National Park and enjoy time to explore the charming town of Banff, where alpine character meets a lively atmosphere of shops and cafés. By the end of the day, we continue to Canmore, where the mountain setting invites us to unwind and enjoy the evening at our own pace.
Greca Tip: The Icefields Parkway stretches over 230 kilometers and is considered one of the most scenic drives in the world.

Breakfast invites us to begin the day surrounded by the serenity of the Rockies as we set out toward one of the region’s most iconic landscapes. Our first destination is Lake Louise, renowned for its striking turquoise waters created by glacial minerals and framed by towering peaks. The elegant Fairmont Château Lake Louise overlooks the lake, adding a sense of timeless grandeur to this remarkable setting.
We then continue into Yoho National Park, whose name expresses the sense of awe inspired by its dramatic scenery. Located on the western slopes of the Rockies, the park reveals a landscape of rugged cliffs, dense forests, and powerful waterfalls, where nature feels both vast and untouched. Here we spend time at Emerald Lake, admired for its vivid color and mirror-like reflections that capture the surrounding mountains in perfect symmetry.
Our exploration continues at the Natural Bridge, a fascinating rock formation shaped over time by the force of the Kicking Horse River, demonstrating the sculpting power of glacial waters. If conditions allow, we also make a brief stop at Bow Falls, where the wide cascade and mountain backdrop create an ideal setting for memorable photographs.
As the day comes to an end, we return to Canmore, where the peaceful mountain atmosphere provides a perfect opportunity to relax. The evening is free to enjoy dinner at leisure, reflecting on a day immersed in some of the most celebrated landscapes of the Canadian Rockies.
Greca Tip: The distinctive turquoise color of lakes like Lake Louise and Emerald Lake comes from fine rock particles carried by glacial meltwater.

Breakfast marks the beginning of our final day in the Canadian Rockies as we prepare to leave behind the alpine landscapes and return to the vibrant city of Calgary. Before departing the region, we enjoy one last immersion in its breathtaking scenery.
Our morning begins with the Banff Gondola, which carries us to the summit of Sulphur Mountain. From this elevated vantage point, sweeping panoramic views unfold across the Bow Valley, revealing layers of mountain ranges, forests, and winding rivers that define the essence of the Rockies. This perspective offers a memorable farewell to one of Canada’s most iconic natural settings.
We then continue to Lake Minnewanka, a striking glacial lake surrounded by rugged peaks and rich in local history. Its deep blue waters and expansive setting make it a peaceful yet impressive stop. Those who wish may choose to enhance the experience with an optional cruise or a self-driven boat activity, allowing for a closer connection with the landscape.
As we make our way toward Calgary, the scenery gradually transitions from dramatic mountains to open plains, illustrating the diversity of Alberta’s geography. Upon arrival, we enjoy an orientation tour of the city, where modern architecture, wide avenues, and landmarks such as the Calgary Tower reflect the city’s dynamic and contemporary character.
The evening invites us to enjoy dinner at leisure, offering a final opportunity to relax and reflect on the journey through the Canadian Rockies before settling in for the night.
