Tour of Germany and Eastern Europe with Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and Poland in 13 days

After our arrival at Frankfurt Airport, one of our vehicles will be waiting to transfer us to our hotel.

Frankfurt, the most important city in Hesse and one of Europe's main financial centers, stands out for its skyline full of skyscrapers and its historical significance as a key hub in European trade. With a mix of modern architecture and historical buildings, it offers a perfect blend of the old and the contemporary.

Frankfurt's history dates back to Roman times, and for centuries it has been a vital commercial city, especially known for its book fair—one of the oldest in the world. The city is also famous for its cultural diversity, world-class museums, and its importance in global politics and economics.

The rest of the day will be free for us to relax and begin exploring this vibrant city at our own pace.

Greca Tip: Take advantage of your free time to stroll through Römerberg, the heart of Frankfurt's old town, famous for its medieval houses and the iconic St. Bartholomew's Cathedral. It's the perfect spot for a first encounter with the city's history!

After a nutritious breakfast, we get ready to start our day.

Today promises a journey filled with unforgettable landscapes and places steeped in history. We travel through two of Germany’s most charming river valleys: the Rhine and the Moselle.

We begin with a cruise along the Rhine, between the picturesque towns of Rüdesheim and St. Goar. This is undoubtedly the most scenic stretch of the river: medieval castles, terraced vineyards, and delightful villages line the banks in what feels like a storybook setting.

Next, we head to the beautiful Moselle Valley and make a stop in Cochem, a medieval gem featuring half-timbered houses and a majestic castle towering over the river. You'll have time for lunch and to stroll through its charming streets.

In the afternoon, we arrive in Cologne, a vibrant city known for its Gothic cathedral, one of the largest in Europe and an iconic symbol of the city. At 154 meters tall, it was the tallest building in the world until 1884. You’ll have time to walk through the lively city center and enjoy views of the Rhine before we continue to our hotel in Dortmund.

Greca Tip: If you’d like to experience an authentic taste of Cologne, try a glass of Kölsch, the local beer, in one of the city’s traditional taverns. It’s served in tall, narrow glasses—and always very cold!

Today will be a day full of magic and nostalgia as we follow in the footsteps of the famous tales and legends that marked our childhood, exploring the Fairy Tale Route, which winds through several villages that inspired the Brothers Grimm. We’ll begin our adventure in Trendelburg, a picturesque walled village dominated by its impressive medieval castle, where we’ll visit Rapunzel’s tower (entrance included)—a place filled with charm and mystery.

Next, we’ll travel along secondary roads, crossing enchanted forests as we imagine the stories of Hansel and Gretel. We’ll arrive in Höxter, a lively small town known for the Corvey Abbey (entrance included), a 9th-century monastery and UNESCO World Heritage Site. We then head to Polle, where we’ll explore the ruins of Cinderella’s Castle (entrance included)—an ideal setting to dive deeper into the world of classic fairy tales.

Our next stop will be Hamelin, famous for the legendary tale of the Pied Piper. Here, we’ll walk through its streets, following the trail of mice and soaking in the magical atmosphere of the city. Finally, we continue our journey to Hanover, where we’ll have time for a relaxing stroll around the Old Town Hall, a site full of history and charm.

After a delicious breakfast, we begin our journey toward Goslar, a picturesque town in the heart of Germany, renowned for its charming half-timbered architecture, medieval walls, and cozy squares. This enchanting corner invites you to stroll through its cobblestone streets and soak in its unique atmosphere.

We then continue on to Quedlinburg, a city of immeasurable historical value, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its impressive old town features over 2,100 timber-framed houses, some of which have withstood the test of time almost untouched. Make sure to admire the majestic Town Hall and the imposing castle that dominates the skyline.

Finally, we head to Berlin, Germany’s vibrant capital, arriving by the late afternoon. Upon arrival, you will have free time to explore this fascinating city at your own pace.

Greca Tip: As you explore, we recommend wearing comfortable shoes and carrying a bottle of water, as the distances between attractions in many of these cities can be longer than they seem.

After breakfast, we set out to deeply explore the vibrant capital of Germany. Berlin is a city that blends its profound historical past with a modern and dynamic present. We will begin with a panoramic tour through its historic center, where you’ll be able to admire some of the city’s most iconic landmarks. We’ll head to the famous Brandenburg Gate, a symbol of German reunification, and continue to the Reichstag, home of the German Parliament—an important site both politically and historically.

Next, we’ll explore Museum Island, a group of world-renowned museums where you can admire masterpieces of both ancient and modern art. We will also visit the Holocaust Memorial, a moving reminder of the horrors of World War II, and the Berlin Wall Memorial and Museum, which tells the story of the city’s division during the Cold War and its later reunification.

Berlin is also known for its vast parks and modern shopping streets. You’ll have time to stroll through them and discover the city’s quieter corners, such as the Tiergarten, Berlin’s largest urban park—perfect for a peaceful walk.

The afternoon is free for you to continue discovering Berlin at your own pace. You can choose to explore more museums, relax in cozy cafés, or do some shopping in the city’s stylish boutiques.

Greca Tip: If you want a more unique perspective of Berlin, we recommend taking a boat ride on the Spree River. From the water, you’ll be able to admire some of the city’s most impressive buildings, such as the Berlin Cathedral and the Bellevue Palace.

After breakfast, we begin our day traveling through beautiful forested landscapes toward Dresden, a city renowned for its rich cultural heritage, stunning baroque architecture, and world-famous museums. Dresden has been nicknamed the “Florence of the Elbe” due to its beauty and elegance. Upon arrival, you will have time to explore its majestic palaces and the Zwinger, an architectural complex housing valuable art collections, as well as the Royal Palace, once home to the Electors of Saxony. After some free time for lunch, you may stroll along the banks of the Elbe River and admire the city’s marvelous views.

We then continue our journey toward the Czech Republic, reaching Prague by mid-afternoon. This Czech capital, considered one of the most charming cities in Europe, will impress you with its extraordinary beauty. We’ll begin our panoramic tour, where you can admire the iconic Prague Castle, the Town Hall Square—famous for its astronomical clock—and the historic Charles Bridge, which connects two major neighborhoods of the city and offers a spectacular view of the Vltava River.

You will have the rest of the afternoon free to further explore this fascinating city at your own pace. At the end of the day, we offer a transfer to the historic center, where you can enjoy Prague’s lively nightlife, especially its traditional beer halls—perfect for tasting some of the best beers in the world.

Greca Tip: If you have time and are in the mood for an authentic experience, we suggest a visit to the Mala Strana district. Here you'll find charming cobbled streets, traditional cafés, and unique views of Prague Castle. It's also a great area to try typical Czech dishes like svíčková (beef with cream sauce) served with knedlíky (bread dumplings).

After breakfast, enjoy a free day to explore Prague at your leisure.

You have the option to discover Artistic Prague, where you can visit the charming Mala Strana district, see the famous Infant Jesus of Prague, admire the St. Nicholas Church, take a relaxing cruise along the Vltava River, or wander through the historical Jewish Quarter.

Greca Tip: While in Prague, don't miss out on tasting "Trdelník," a traditional Czech pastry, often served warm with sugar and cinnamon. It's a sweet treat perfect for a stroll through the city!

We will begin our day with a delicious breakfast, then head towards the city of Lednice. Along the way, we will admire the landscapes of forest-covered hills in Bohemia and Moravia.

Upon arriving in Lednice, we will have time to enjoy a stroll through this city, which has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage site for its neo-Gothic castle surrounded by extensive gardens and landscaped parks in a natural and serene setting.

We will then depart for Hungary, passing through Slovakia to reach Gyor.

Here, we will have the opportunity to have lunch and walk through the sixth-largest city in the country, crossed by the Danube River, known for its rich history and well-preserved architecture. The historic center features cobblestone streets, Baroque and medieval buildings, and its grand cathedral.

Our journey continues to Budapest, where we will arrive by late afternoon.

In the evening, we will enjoy a transfer to the pedestrian center, a neighborhood with many small restaurants and bars where we can indulge in the local cuisine.

Greca Tip: Budapest has an underground network of thermal waters, earning it the nickname "City of Baths." With over 100 thermal springs and around 12 thermal baths, it is unique in Europe.

After a delicious breakfast, we will enjoy a guided city tour with our local guide.

This morning, we will explore the wonderful monuments and attractions the city has to offer. We will stroll across some of the many bridges over the Danube River, visit the Pest district, and explore the Old Town in Buda.

Buda and Pest are two historic parts of Budapest, separated by the Danube River.

Buda, on the western bank, is known for its mountainous landscape, the Buda Castle, and the Castle District. It offers panoramic views and a more peaceful atmosphere.

Pest, on the eastern bank, is the more dynamic and commercial side of the city, where most of the shops, restaurants, and nightlife are located. Both sides offer rich history and culture, complementing each other to create the unique beauty of Budapest.

The afternoon will be free to continue discovering the most beautiful corners of this city.

Greca Tip: Budapest's nightlife is world-famous, so we recommend visiting one of the city's bars. Szimpla Kert is one of the most popular Ruin Bars.

After breakfast, we leave Budapest early to begin a day full of discoveries. We cross into Slovakia and arrive in Bratislava, the charming capital on the banks of the Danube. You will have free time to stroll through its historic center, nestled beneath the impressive castle that watches over the city.

Next, we travel to Trencin, a medieval gem in western Slovakia, known for its hilltop castle and lively historic core. You will have time to explore and enjoy lunch in its picturesque setting.

In the afternoon, we continue our journey through scenic landscapes of forests and rolling hills as we cross into Poland. We arrive in the beautiful city of Krakow by the end of the day.

Greca Tip: Don’t forget to look up in Trencin’s old town — there’s a Roman inscription carved into the rock dating back to the 2nd century!

After a hearty breakfast in Krakow, we begin the day with a panoramic tour of this historic city, known as the capital of Little Poland. Founded in the 7th century, its Old Town has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage site. During the tour, we will explore the medieval streets that give the city its character and head to the Main Market Square, one of the largest in Europe, which is the heart of Cracow. We will also visit Wawel Hill, where the Royal Castle of Wawel, the former residence of Polish kings, stands, offering stunning views of the city and the Vistula River.

After the visit, we will start our journey towards Kalwaria Zebrzydowska, a small town famous for its complex of monasteries and chapels, which has become an important pilgrimage site and is known as the “Calvary.” This place, surrounded by breathtaking natural scenery, has also been declared a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Next, we will head to Wadowice, the birthplace of Pope John Paul II. Here, you will have the chance to stroll through the charming town and visit the Church of the Virgin Mary, where the Pope was baptized.

Then, we will travel to Auschwitz-Birkenau, the infamous Nazi concentration and extermination camp from World War II, where over a million people lost their lives. We will visit Auschwitz 2, Birkenau, where the death trains from all over Europe arrived. This moving tour will allow us to reflect on one of the darkest moments in human history. Entrance is included, and a guide will be provided to help understand the magnitude of the tragedy.

At the end of the day, we will continue our journey to Warsaw, the capital of Poland, where we will arrive to rest and prepare to explore this vibrant city the next day.

Greca Tip: In Warsaw, don’t miss trying bigos, a traditional Polish stew made with cabbage and meat, perfect for a comforting lunch.

After breakfast at the hotel, we begin the day with a panoramic tour of Warsaw, the capital of Poland, with nearly two million inhabitants. The city, a blend of history and modernity, presents itself as a place where tradition and cosmopolitan urban life come together, all in a remarkable renaissance after the devastation suffered during World War II.

During our tour, we will stroll through the charming Old Town, which has been meticulously restored and declared a UNESCO World Heritage site. Here, we can admire the historic buildings, cobblestone streets, and the Royal Castle, which is a symbol of the city. We will also pass by the Palace of Culture, an imposing skyscraper that was a gift from the Soviet Union and remains an emblem of Warsaw.

Then, we will head to Łazienki Park, a beautiful park that houses the monument to Chopin, in honor of the famous Polish composer, which remains a gathering place for classical music lovers.

After the visit, you will have free time in the afternoon to explore some of the city’s most important museums, such as the National Museum or the Warsaw Uprising Museum, which offers a deep look into the heroic uprising of the people of Warsaw against the Nazi occupation. You will also have the option to stroll through the vibrant city center, filled with life, shops, and cafés.

After a delightful breakfast and at the designated time, you’ll be transferred to Warsaw Chopin Airport to board your next flight.
