After a delicious breakfast at the hotel, we begin a day that invites you to immerse yourself in the grandeur and mystery of Beijing, a city where millennia of history coexist with vibrant modern life. In the morning, we visit the legendary Forbidden City, the imperial palace where 24 emperors ruled for nearly five centuries. Strolling through its majestic courtyards, ornate halls, and golden rooftops allows you to imagine the whispers of the imperial court and the lives of the Ming and Qing dynasties. Weather permitting, we will climb Jingshan Park and Coal Hill for a breathtaking panoramic view of the Forbidden City and the city beyond.
Next, we continue to Tiananmen Square, one of the largest public squares in the world, whose monumental scale reflects the modern heart of China. Across the square, we admire the National Centre for the Performing Arts, also known as the “Beijing Opera House,” a contemporary architectural icon amidst the historical landscape.
After an included lunch, the afternoon leads us to the serene Summer Palace, the Qing Dynasty’s imperial retreat, where pavilions, lakes, and gardens evoke elegance and tranquility. The day concludes with a rickshaw ride through the hutongs, exploring traditional shops and visiting a Siheyuan, a classic courtyard home that preserves the essence of local life.
At the end of this unforgettable day, we return to our hotel in Beijing, a welcoming retreat where you can relax, reflect on the city’s wonders, and prepare for the adventures ahead.
Greca Tip: If the Forbidden City is closed, don’t miss the Confucius Temple and Lama Temple, architectural gems where history and spirituality intertwine beautifully.
