At the scheduled time, we will meet our guide to begin our excursion along the beautiful Portuguese coast.
Aboard our comfortable minibus, we will head towards Aveiro, known as the “Venice of Portugal.” During the journey, our guide will share fascinating facts about the country’s history, development, and cultural richness.
Once in Aveiro, we will begin a guided walking tour of the historic center, admiring elegant Art Nouveau facades, the lively streets lining the canals, the traditional fish market, and the impressive Aveiro Cathedral, a Baroque gem declared a national monument. We will discover how this charming city blends the old and the new in a surprising way, and we’ll learn about its fishing roots and the historic role of salt production in the region’s economy.
The highlight of the tour will be a 45-minute panoramic ride aboard a Moliceiro, a traditional boat once used to harvest seaweed. Sit back and enjoy the unique beauty of Aveiro as you glide along its canals.
Afterwards, we will head to the stunning Costa Nova beach, famous for its colorful striped houses, originally built by fishermen as storage huts and now transformed into delightful holiday homes. You will have free time to stroll and take photos in this unforgettable coastal setting.
We will return to Porto around 1:00 PM, ending the tour on Rua de Alexandre Herculano.
Greca Tip: Don’t miss the chance to try Aveiro’s traditional ovos moles, a convent sweet made with egg yolks and sugar, perfect to enjoy with a coffee by the canals.
