Step into the heart of British history and grandeur with our Crown Jewels of London with River Cruise afternoon tour. Starting at 1:00 p.m. from 258 Vauxhall Bridge Rd, our journey through the city’s most iconic landmarks will be guided by an expert who will bring centuries of stories to life.
Our first destination is St. Paul’s Cathedral, Sir Christopher Wren’s architectural masterpiece that rose from the ashes of the Great Fire of London. Built between 1675 and 1710, its magnificent dome dominated London’s skyline for over 250 years. Inside, admire its seven chapels, intricate mosaics, and Europe’s largest crypt, where notable figures rest. You’ll also have the chance to visit the special exhibition “Wren 300: Innovation and Restoration,” celebrating the 300th anniversary of the visionary architect’s life and achievements in both science and architecture.
Please note that as St. Paul’s Cathedral is an active place of worship, opening hours may vary. On Sundays or during special services, the interior visit will be replaced with an exterior photo stop, giving you time to admire its grandeur from the outside.
Next, we travel to the Tower of London, a fortress built by William the Conqueror over a thousand years ago. Within its ancient walls, you’ll uncover tales of intrigue, imprisonment, and royal executions that echo through history. As you explore the White Tower, keep in mind that there are several stairways and limited access for visitors with reduced mobility.
The highlight of your visit awaits inside the Jewel House: the world-famous Crown Jewels Collection. This breathtaking display of 23,578 gemstones includes regalia still used in royal ceremonies today, such as St. Edward’s Crown and the Imperial State Crown, both featured in the coronation of Their Majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla. You’ll also see Queen Mary’s Crown, originally made for the 1911 Coronation and redesigned for Queen Camilla in 2023. The exhibition beautifully traces the origins of these treasures, from their destruction during the English Civil War to their recreation for Charles II in 1661, symbolizing the restoration of the monarchy.
After immersing ourselves in the Tower’s fascinating past, we’ll head to Tower Pier to board a scenic cruise along the River Thames. Relax as you sail past London’s most celebrated landmarks — the Tower Bridge, the London Eye, the Houses of Parliament, and Big Ben — offering a unique and serene perspective of this legendary city. The cruise concludes at Westminster Pier, around 5:30 p.m., where you’ll find convenient access to the London Underground, bus services, and taxis.
Guests also have the option to take the river cruise on another day and finish the tour at the Tower of London instead of Westminster Pier. We recommend bringing your e-ticket on your smart device for easy access throughout the tour.
This immersive afternoon experience combines the majesty of St. Paul’s Cathedral, the intrigue of the Tower of London, and the splendor of the Crown Jewels, culminating with a tranquil cruise along the River Thames — a truly unforgettable way to see London’s finest treasures.
Greca Tip: Sit on the upper deck during the Thames cruise — as the sun sets behind the skyline, you’ll capture the most breathtaking photos of Tower Bridge and the illuminated Houses of Parliament.
