Once at the meeting point, you will set off to discover two essential places in the Parisian region: Giverny and the Palace of Versailles.
In Giverny, a village of timeless beauty where the impressionist painter Claude Monet lived, you will visit the famous gardens that inspired the artist, as well as his house and workshop.
You will visit independently Monet's house with its pink stucco exterior that was his home and workplace. You'll discover the "blue salon" reading room, which connects to "l'épicerie," the artist's studio reconstituted with the furniture that was originally there, as well as his private apartments.
Also, you will visit the solar yellow dining room, meticulously reconstructed with porcelain tableware, and the blue-tiled kitchen. In the dining room, you'll admire Monet's works and one of the world's most significant collections of Japanese prints.
Finally, you'll enjoy the village and the lovely shop bookstore, formerly the Water Lilies workshop, offering a wide variety of products related to Claude Monet's work.
After the visit, you'll enjoy a pleasant lunch at the Moulin de Fourges restaurant located 10 minutes from Giverny. Here, you will savor local cuisine.
In the afternoon, you'll head to Versailles, where you'll explore the Palace and its gardens. With an area of 67,000 square meters, the Palace consists of over 700 rooms. You will visit the King's Apartments with its 7 salons, each decorated on the theme of a god, and the Queen's Apartments.
Additionally, you'll have access to the majestic Hall of Mirrors, a reception and ostentation area designed by the famous architect Jules Hardouin-Mansart. Stretching 73 meters long, it was conceived to dazzle visitors of the Sun King, Louis XIV, illuminated by 17 windows, 350 mirrors, and opening onto the Palace's splendid gardens.
After the visit, you'll have the opportunity to freely explore the gardens of Versailles, admiring numerous artworks, fountains, ponds, parterres, and groves.
You'll return to Paris around 6:00 PM.
Greca Tip: During the construction of the Palace of Versailles, the technique to produce mirrors was a well-kept secret in Venice. France lacked the technology to produce large mirrors, so King Louis XIV sent several spies to Venice to discover the mirror-making process.
