At daybreak in Thessaloniki, you will embark on a journey that transports you to the grandeur of Alexander the Great and ancient Macedonia. In the morning, we will arrive in Pella, the ancient capital of the Macedonian kingdom, where the mosaics of the “Abduction of Helen” and the “Amazonomachy” tell stories that have traveled through centuries. Among the grand Agora and the everyday artifacts preserved in the modern museum, you will feel the life of that era come alive before your eyes. A fascinating detail: some mosaics preserve small inscriptions that seem like whispers from the ancient inhabitants.
At midday, we will move on to Vergina to explore the Museum of the Royal Tombs of Aigai, where the gold of Philip II, father of Alexander, rests. Among golden crowns, armors, and the iconic Star of Vergina, you can imagine the rituals and magnificence of the Macedonian dynasty.
In the afternoon, we will conclude the day at the New Museum of Aigai. There, monumental sculptures, royal jewelry, and the reconstructed Palace façade will allow you to experience history with all your senses.
Tip Greca: Take your time to admire each mosaic and sculpture; the smallest details reveal secrets that history keeps carefully.
