Excursion Itinerary: Spetses From Athens

VISITING SPETSES FROM ATHENS
VISITING SPETSES FROM ATHENS

Early in the morning, your assistant will pick you from your accommodation and escort you to Piraeus Port. On the way there you will receive all the necessary information about your excursion and will have your questions answered.

At Piraeus port, you will board the Fast Ferry to the island of Spetses. The capital of the island is perhaps one of the most elegant and stately capitals of the Aegean islands. Numerous impressive buildings by the seaside and the intense vegetation will utterly amaze you. In the town centre, we will find the square of Dapia, with the canons that once served to protect the city and the island from its intruders.

Past the square, you will be impressed by the stately architecture of the island. Cobbled streets with imposing mansions and buildings like the Museum of Spetses or the Anargyros Mansion will unfold before us. The neoclassical mansions also have their distinctive place on this island. Highlights include buildings like Chatziyannis Mexís, an excellent example dating back to the 18th century and currently housing the museum with more than 4,000 years of history within its walls. Among the notable artifacts are the Flag of the Revolution, the Bouboulina Ossuary and portraits of those who fought for their homeland.

Moreover, the lighthouse, very close to the capital, offers majestic views, while the beaches, especially those on the southwestern part of the island, with their lush vegetation and clear blue waters are spectacular, indeed. Kaiki or Zogeria beaches are considered the best of the island.
In good time you will be advised about your Fast Ferry departure back to Piraeus port.

Greca Tip: Take a romantic trip around the island in a horse-drawn carriage and admire the grand mansions adorning the narrow cobbled streets of the island.
