Excursion Itinerary: South Cappadocia

In the morning, we will pick you up at your hotel to enjoy an excursion through southern Cappadocia, the most interesting part of the volcanic territory.
You will start with an approximately 4 km walk through the Red and Pink Valley, which owes its name to the color of the rocks that change their tone and intensity according to the time of the day, the season and the weather. During this wonderful walk you will notice several cave churches, caves and cave house tunnels as well as appreciate the wonderful fauna and flora along the way.
Before lunch, you will enter the Love Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, formerly known as the White Valley, a landscape full of sensuous shapes carved out of the volcanic rock.
You will then have a delicious lunch at a local restaurant and near the Pigeon Valley, characteristic for the whiteness of its sand (there are dovecotes throughout the region, as their excrement is used as fertilizer in the vineyards and pumpkin plantations), you will continue to one of the most extraordinary underground cities. Discovered by a man breaking down a wall in his basement, it is the deepest underground city in the world and dates back to 1400 BC.
Afterwards, you will head towards the village of Uchisar, situated at the highest point in Cappadocia on the Nevsehir-Goreme road, just 5 km from Goreme. It is crowned by an ancient Roman castle excavated in the stone, the Uchisar Castle. Many rooms are connected with each other with stairs, tunnels and passanes. However, due to the erosion of this multi-leveled castle, it not possible to reach all the rooms. The top of the Uchisar Castle, provides a magnificent panorama of the surrounding area.
The excursion will conclude in the Christian village of Cavusin, a quaint town with a marvelous historical tale to tell. The first Christians settled here as a refuge from the persecutions suffered by the Romans for their faith and made their homes in caves burrowed out of the soft volcanic rock. From here you can enjoy an amazing panoramic view of the town and the entrance into Rose Valley.
At the end of this day excursion, you will be transferred back to your hotel.
Greca Tip: Before the start of this tour, you may ask your guide about the possibility of joining the famous balloon ride at sunrise.
