At the indicated time, we will meet at the meeting point in Madrid to begin a fascinating excursion to the historic city of Cuenca, located in the heart of Castilla–La Mancha. After departing by bus, we will leave behind the rhythm of the capital and gradually enter a more natural and scenic landscape until reaching one of the most surprising environments in the region.
Our first stop will be the Enchanted City, an extraordinary natural site where we will enjoy a walk among curious rock formations sculpted over millions of years by the action of water and wind. This unique karst landscape, declared a Natural Site of National Interest, amazes visitors with stone figures that resemble animals, bridges, and fantastical shapes, making the visit feel almost magical. After the walk, we will have free time to enjoy an optional lunch and relax before continuing our exploration.
In the afternoon, we will take a panoramic tour through the Huécar River gorge, admiring the impressive cliffs that embrace the city as well as the spectacular views of the Júcar River canyon, two of the most characteristic natural landscapes of Cuenca. We will ascend to the Castle District, from where we will begin a pleasant downhill walk through the Medieval Quarter, discovering some of the city’s most emblematic corners, including its charming cobbled streets and scenic viewpoints.
At the end of the visit, the bus will pick us up once again to begin our return journey to Madrid, arriving back at the original meeting point at Plaza del Conde de Casal, thus concluding this memorable day of nature, history, and unforgettable landscapes.
Greca Tip: If you visit Cuenca, do not miss the opportunity to try the traditional morteruelo, a rich local dish made with game meats and spices that perfectly reflects the authentic flavors of the region’s cuisine.
