At the scheduled time, we’ll meet at our designated point to begin a captivating day in Porto, exploring its historical treasures and renowned wine culture. Accompanied by our expert guide, we will start with a walking tour through the UNESCO-listed historic center, the oldest part of the city, where cobbled streets and grand facades tell the stories of centuries past.
We’ll stroll along Avenida dos Aliados, admire architectural gems like the Art Deco McDonald's building, and visit the São Bento Train Station, where over 20,000 hand-painted tiles by Jorge Colaço narrate Portugal’s rich history. The tour continues to the exterior of Porto Cathedral (Sé), a Romanesque jewel offering panoramic views over the Douro River and the wine lodges of Vila Nova de Gaia.
Next, we’ll board our comfortable minibus and cross the Douro River to Vila Nova de Gaia, home to the world-famous Port Wine Cellars. In a guided visit to a prestigious cellar—such as Fonseca, Real Companhia Velha, or Burmester—you will learn about wine production and aging before enjoying a tasting of three varieties of Port wine.
Afterwards, you'll have free time to explore the city at your own pace or enjoy lunch in one of Porto’s typical restaurants (not included).
In the afternoon, we’ll embark on a 50-minute panoramic Rabelo boat cruise, gliding under the Six Bridges of the Douro, taking in unique perspectives of Porto’s skyline.
We’ll then drive along the Atlantic coast to Foz do Douro, where the river meets the sea. Here, we’ll walk by the elegant Pérgola da Foz, enjoy the Blue Flag beaches, and reflect on the city’s historic ties to Britain at Praia dos Ingleses.
On our way back, we’ll explore the modern side of Porto, passing Avenida da Boavista, Casa da Música, and the Serralves Museum of Contemporary Art, before concluding this memorable journey around 17:00, at the original drop-off point.
Greca Tip: Don’t leave Porto without tasting the traditional “Francesinha,” a hearty local sandwich that’s a true symbol of the city’s bold and flavorful cuisine!
