You will leave Ljubljana at 08:30 am. Accompanied by our English-speaking guide, you head north toward the Julian Alps to discover the most spectacular natural sites in Slovenia.
Bled is a magnificent alpine resort that boasts the only true island in Slovenia. For centuries it has been the symbol of natural beauty and the home of fairy tales. You will enjoy beautiful landscapes, learn about local crafts and traditions, as well as taste local snacks.
Ascending to the old 12th-century castle, hanging on top of a cliff with spectacular views over the lake, you can delight in the views of the famous Bled Island and the surrounding peaks. You can enter the fortress, where you will discover the history of the inhabitants of its rooms. The castle not only hosts fairytale weddings, cultural events, and important protocol meetings but is also a museum of manual printing and a winery.
Another activity that you should not miss if you visit Bled is the pleasant boat trip on Lake Bled. The journey will take place aboard a pletna: a traditional wooden boat that not only offers a unique experience but also a true journey through time. The rowers will take you to the island with 99 stone steps leading to the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary and the Fortune Bell.
Once you dock at the lake pier, you will have free time to take a walk at your own pace through Bled or recharge your batteries by having an aperitif in the area.
After some free time, you will continue the way to the south, to reach the town of Postojna and you will discover the underground world of the homonymous cave, the most famous karst cave in the world. The guided tour includes the electric train ride and the walk through the beautiful passages, spectacular stone chambers, pillars, limestone curtains, and other unforgettable shapes.
You will continue to the idyllic town of Predjama and enjoy the storybook medieval castle, Predjama Castle, situated in the open mouth of a cavern halfway up a hillside, offering views of a spectacular setting. You will learn there about the legend of Erasmus, the Slovenian Robin Hood.
Finally, after a day full of excitement, you will return to the Slovenian capital and be transferred to your hotel.
Greca Tip: We recommend that you wear comfortable shoes for the excursion and don't forget an extra jacket as temperatures in the cave are usually around 10°C.
