What Is Esna Known For

Esna is a city in Egypt located on the banks of the Nile River, in the governorate of Qena, fifty-five kilometers from Luxor. This city in the past was the ancient Iunyt, the capital of the Nome III of Upper Egypt. Then it was the capital of Hierakonpolis and later of Eileithyaspolis.

The city has an arid climate with a warm winter, with temperature fluctuations between day and night, and a summer in which often temperatures exceed forty degrees.

The most prominent site of interest in Esna is the Temple of Khnum, an Ancient Egyptian sanctuary dedicated to Khnum, who was worshiped as the creator God in southern Egypt and Nubia.

In turn, this small city is known for being the starting point for most of the Nile cruises due to the fact that the Esna lock is located there, a hydraulic work that makes it possible to overcome a drop of ten meters and makes it possible to crossing from there to Aswan.

Beaches of Esna

The beaches of Esna and nearby cities stand out for their crystal clear turquoise waters and very fine sand that is soft to the touch.

That is why we recommend that you dedicate beach time to your visit to the city of Esna and the mythical cities of Egypt.

After all, what better than combining moments of learning about ancient cultures with moments of relaxation in the sun in paradisiacal places?

Esna Holiday Cruise

Are you looking for a holiday in the sun with a paradisiacal landscape in the background? Would you like to know impressive archaeological ruins? Do you want to try an incredible gastronomic offer while enjoying privileged views? Then you have to consider a ferry for Esna and the Shores of the Nile!

The seasons that we recommend to visit Esna by boat are spring and autumn, that is, the end of February to May and from September to November when you can enjoy ideal weather.

In turn, due to its proximity to cities such as Luxor and Edfu, many tourists combine these destinations with their trip to Esna.

The options to build your cruise are multiple and you choose how to combine destinations. What are you waiting for to plan a new trip?
