Package Tour Itinerary: Amalfi Coast And The Greek Islands

ROME - THE ETERNAL CITY
1
ROME - THE ETERNAL CITY

Upon your arrival at the airport of the 'Eternal City', a member of our team will be waiting for you in one of our private vehicles to welcome you and transfer you comfortably and quickly to your hotel.

Rome was called the “Eternal City” by the ancient Romans because they believed that no matter what happened in the rest of the world, the city of Rome would always remain standing. Throughout the centuries the Italian capital reached the pinnacle of the historic, artistic, and cultural expression of the Western world and you will understand why this great city has proudly featured in the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1980.

The rest of the day will be free for you to relax, and if you wish, begin to enjoy Rome at your own pace.

Greca Tip: Remember that the best way to get around the narrow and pedestrian streets of the historic center of Rome is on foot.

FROM ROME TO NAPLES, POMPEII AND AMALFI

FROM ROME TO NAPLES, POMPEII AND AMALFI

Your tour will begin at around 07:30 hrs. We will pick you up from your hotel between 06:30 hrs and 07:00 hrs (for centrally located hotels), so you must remember to ask the hotel staff for a take-away breakfast on the day before your departure. You will head towards Naples, the most densely populated city in southern Italy, capital of the Campania region and with such a historical, artistic, cultural and gastronomic wealth, that led Unesco to declare its historic center, a World Heritage Site.

Upon arrival in Naples, you will go on a walking tour of the historic center accompanied by your local guide. Among others you will see the Piazza del Plebiscito, surrounded by palaces and a venue for large open-air events, the Royal Palace, built in the 17th century to receive the kings of Spain; the San Carlo Theater, a neoclassical theater inaugurated in 1737 and the Umberto I Gallery, an imposing architectural complex that houses a large commercial gallery, completed in 1890.

You will enjoy a tasty lunch in a typical restaurant with Neapolitan specialties and afterwards you will visit the excavation site of Pompeii.  You will start the archaeological walk through the ancient city, to see what daily life and architecture were like in the first imperial era. At the time this was one of the most avant-garde cities that came to overshadow Rome for its prestige and wealth. Today it is the best example of a Roman city dating back to the 1st century.

In the afternoon you will arrive in Amalfi, the main town on the Amalfi Coast and a World Heritage Site. You will have free time to explore its beautiful streets and finally relax at your hotel.

Tip Greca: Neapolitan coffee is reputed to be the best in Italy so if you like coffee don't miss the opportunity to try it.

BEAUTIFUL AMALFI

After an exquisite breakfast, you will have free time to explore the town that was a trading superpower in the middle ages. You can visit the Duomo, the towering cathedral that dominates the main piazza, roam its streets, taste the delicious cuisine, go to the beach and further afield in the surrounding countryside or simply rest and indulge in some people watching.

Optionally you can join a tour along the wonderful Amalfi Coast.

At night you will have a good rest at your hotel.

Greca Tip: Today you can walk around, eat arancini, pizza and freshly battered and deep fried calamari or enjoy a refreshing swim in the crystal clear waters of nearby beaches, such as the Duoglio beach.

Afterwards, we will transfer you to Pompeii, where you will board the bus back to Rome. If traffic conditions allow, you will arrive in the Italian capital at about 21:00 hrs.

Greca Tip: Don't miss the delicious lemon ice cream so typical of this area.

At the end of the visit, you can either choose to return to your hotel or set out on your own adventure through the charming and picturesque streets of Plaka.

FROM ATHENS TO MYKONOS - NAVIGATING THE AEGEAN LIKE ODYSSEUS

FROM ATHENS TO MYKONOS - NAVIGATING THE AEGEAN LIKE ODYSSEUS

Early in the morning, your assistant will escort you to Piraeus port in one of our private vehicles and you will take the ferry to the cosmopolitan island of Mykonos. The crossing is scheduled at the ideal time of the day so that you can enjoy the sun on deck and marvel at the deep blue of the Aegean Sea. The name of the island denotes "heap of stones" or "rocky place", but a later version connects it to the hero Mykono, son of the king of Delos, Anius.

Upon your arrival, one of our English-speaking representatives will welcome you, transfer you to your hotel and introduce you to this famous island.

The rest of the day is free for you to relax and immerse yourself in the 'slow' way of life of the natives.

Greca Tip: You can select a fast ferry during step 1 of 3 of your reservation.

MYKONOS: RELAX, SUN, BEACH AND HISTORY
8
MYKONOS: RELAX, SUN, BEACH AND HISTORY

Free day to enjoy this magnificent island. Mykonos is the meeting point of the international "jet set", famous for its wonderful beaches, the dazzling shops and vibrant nightlife.

The island's cuisine is mainly Mediterranean, which means that vegetables and olive oil are an integral part of the daily menu, together with certain spices (oregano, basil ...) as well as fish and seafood dishes.

Just a short distance away by ferry, there is the historic island of Delos, which, according to Greek mythology, was the birthplace of Apollo and Artemis. This small island, inhabited since 3000 B.C., was one of the most important cultural centers of antiquity.

Greca tip: We recommend hiring a car or a motorcycle to venture out on the island, experience the local customs and feel like a Mykonian, too.

FROM MYKONOS TO MAGICAL SANTORINI
9
FROM MYKONOS TO MAGICAL SANTORINI

After a tasty breakfast, appreciating life like a Greek, we will pick you up at the agreed time, in one of our private vehicles, to drive you to the port, where you will continue on to your next destination, the island that is an inexhaustible source of inspiration, Santorini. As the ferry approaches the port, you will admire the capital city of Fira, with its white houses perched on the cliffside and facing the volcano.

Upon disembarkation, one of our English-speaking representatives will welcome you, escort you to your hotel and introduce you to some of the most outstanding features of this picturesque island. The rest of the day is free for you to wander through the narrow streets and become part of this amazing world.

Greca Tip: Sit back and enjoy one of the most beautiful sunsets in the world from one of the coffee shops in glamorous Oia.

DISCOVERING SANTORINI
10
DISCOVERING SANTORINI

Free day to explore, at your own pace, this magical island, considered to be the lost continent of Atlantis. The name of the island was given by the Venetian Giacomo Barozzi due to the presence of a chapel dedicated to Saint Eirini. His descendants remained until 1576, when the island became part of the Duchy of Naxos and until the Turkish conquest by Piyale Pasha.

Optionally, you may choose to go on a dazzling sailboat tour that will take you over to the small islands of the caldera, Nea and Palea Kameni, with the hot springs of green and yellow waters.

Greca Tip: On this free day, we recommend exploring the island, tasting its wine and its excellent local cuisine. We cannot miss tasting the tomatokeftedes (a kind of tomato balls), the fava dishes (a vegetable smaller than a pea) and the cheese called Chloro.

FROM SANTORINI TO ATHENS - THE RETURN

Your flight to Athens airport will conveniently coincide with your international flight, which, for this reason, should preferably depart after 12:30 hrs, so that you can enjoy precious and stress-free time during the course of the day.

Having spent a few fantastic days with Greca, we hope to see you again soon to create more extraordinary moments that will be lovingly etched in your memory forever.

Have a nice trip! or as the Greeks say: Kalo taksidi!

Optionally you can add more nights in Santorini during step 1 of 3 of your reservation.

Greca Tip: As a going away gift you can buy a bottle of the indigenous wine varieties of Santorini, such as Assyrtiko, Aidani & Mavrotragano.
