Package Tour Itinerary: Rome & Athens

Upon your arrival in the Eternal City , one of our vehicles will be waiting for you to welcome and drive you to the hotel. On the way you will appreciate why the Italian capital is considered the maximun expression of the historical richness of the Western world. The rest of the day will be free to relax.
Tip Greca: Add nights in step 1 of 3 to enjoy more days in Rome .

After a refreshing breakfast, you will have free time to explore the Eternal City at your own pace. You can choose from thousands of options: walking, visiting monuments, shopping or tasting the local gastronomy and from a wide selection pasta, vegetable, meat and fish dishes.
Rome is the geographical heart of the Catholic religion and the city with the highest concentration of historical and architectural assets in the world. In 1980, together with the extraterritorial properties of the Holy See found in the city and the Saint Paul's Outside the Walls, Rome was included in the UNESCO World Heritage list.
Greca Tip: Optionally, you can choose to visit the Colosseum in the morning or in the afternoon. Select it at Step 1 of your reservation.

In the morning you will enjoy a delicious breakfast and then have the rest of the day free to appreciate and delight in the beauty of this wonderful city.
The essential monuments like the Colosseum, the Forum as well as a walk through the center of the squares dominated by the signature fountains are highly recommended. Later in the evening you will enjoy dinner on your own and have a rejuvenating rest at your hotel.
Greca Tip: For your dinner we recommend that you head to one of the trattorias of the Trastevere neighborhood, where you can enjoy a rich Italian fish dish and a glass of the house white wine.

After breakfast, and at the time indicated, we will transfer you to Rome airport to board your flight to Greece.
In Athens, the transfer to the hotel will be carried out in one of our private vehicles. Your English-speaking assistant will be waiting to help you with the hotel check-in and inform you of all the details of your trip. He will also clear up any doubts, answer your questions as well as give you a brief account of the city and its day to day life.
The rest of the day will be free for you to relax and start enjoying Athens at your own pace.
In the evening you will enjoy a guided walking tour through the most captivating neighborhoods of Athens, such as Anafiotika, Thisseio, Monastiraki, and Plaka.
Greca Tip: You can visit Mount Lycabettus, whose top can be reached by a funicular or on foot, to enjoy an incredible panoramic view of the city.

After your breakfast, and at the appointed time, you will commence the panoramic tour of the Athenian Neoclassical Center: the Parliament, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, the University, the Library, and National Academy, Ilion Palace, the Temple of Zeus and Hadrian's Gate, the Panathenaic Stadium, and many other monuments and sites of great cultural importance. You will learn all there is to know about their history and background from the licensed English-speaking Tour Guide accompanying you on this tour.
Your next stop will be the "sacred rock", the spectacular, unique and magnificent Acropolis and the Acropolis Museum. The entrance fee to both sites is included. At the end of the visit, you can either choose to return to your hotel or set out on your own adventure through the charming and picturesque streets of Plaka.
In the evening, we have included a guided walking tour that will take you through the prettiest districts of the capital, such as Anafiotika, Thissio, Monastiraki, and Plaka.
Greca Tip: In Plaka look for something alluring, like ceramics, musical instruments, handmade jewellery to specialty food shops stacked high with olives and spices.

In the morning you will be transferred to the port to commence your full day cruise to three of the most beautiful islands of the Saronic Gulf. Aegina is famous for its variety of pistacios, Poros for its scenic beauty and Hydra, the greenest of these islands, for its elegant stone mansions, serene atmosphere and vehicle free roads.
While on board the ship, you will also have the chance to enjoy lunch in the accompaniment of traditional Greek music and dance. At the end of the day you will be comfortably transferred back to your hotel.
Greca Tip: Try the different varieties of pistachio nuts grown on the famous island of Aegina.

After a tasty breakfast, you will have a free day to explore Athens at your own pace. You can visit the city's principal attractions, museums and archaeological sites, as well as wander through the charming alleys of the historical city center.
Alternatively, you may choose to spend a day or even several days outside of Athens, for example venture out in the glorious peninsula of the Peloponnese or to Delphi, declared by UNESCO a World Heritage Site.
Greca Tip: If you want to skip tours and get to know Athens at your own pace, take the pedestrianized Apostolou Pavlou to the ancient Agora and Monastiraki, or ascend Mount Lycabettus.

At the appointed time, a member of our team will drive you to Athens Airport for your international flight back home or to your next destination.
After spending a few fantastic days with Greca, we hope to see you again soon to create more and extraordinary moments that will be etched in your memory forever.
Have a nice trip! or as Greeks say: "Kalo taksidi!"
Greca Tip: As a going away gift you can choose from a wide range of brightly colored flokati rugs, handmade sandals, embroidered covers and Greek honey or olive oil.
