Rome, Pisa and the best of France in 8 days

Upon arrival at Rome International Airport, a driver will be waiting to transfer you to your hotel. Later, our guide will greet you and provide all the necessary information.

At the end of the evening, you will be able to get a transfer to the Via Cavour area, a great introduction to Rome, where you will find restaurants serving Italian, Indian, Chinese, and interna­tional food.

Rome is known for its iconic landmarks, including the Colosseum, the Roman Forum, the Pantheon, and the Roman Forum, which are all remnants of the ancient Roman Empire. The Vatican City, an independent city-state within Rome, is home to St. Peter's Basilica and the Vatican Museums, which contain some of the world's most famous works of art, including the Sistine Chapel ceiling painted by Michelangelo.

Greca Tip: Rome is the center of the Roman Catholic Church, and it is where the Pope resides. St. Peter's Basilica, located in Vatican City, is a major pilgrimage site for Catholics from around the world.

In the morning, after breakfast, you will do a scenic tour, which will be a great introduction to “The Eternal City”. You will visit the tiny state of the Vatican, the epicenter of Christianity in the world where you will be able to visit St. Peter’s Basilica.

Later, you are going to go to the Imperial Forums, an impressive architectural complex formed by monumental buildings and squares, the center of the political activity of Imperial Rome.

At the end of the evening, we arrange a transfer to the Trastevere area for a stroll in the narrow cobbled streets of the district with hidden treasures, such as some modest medieval churches, small shops with the most peculiar of objects, or scenes of daily life. Many trattorias (informal Italian eating establishments) and osterias (inns) imbued with the Italian spirit will be ready to serve you local dishes. Return to hotel.

Greca Tip: Trastevere has a rich history, dating back to ancient Roman times. The name "Trastevere" itself means "beyond the Tiber" in Latin, as it was situated on the opposite side of the river from the main city of Rome.

After breakfast you will leave Rome for northern Italy. Once in Pisa, you will board a little train from the tourist car park to the monumental Square of Miracles, where the popular Leaning Tower is located. Before leaving you are going to have lunch.

Later you will continue amidst beautiful scenery with the Mediterranean until Sestri Levante were will be a short stop to enjoy this small tourist town by the sea. The town's historic center is characterized by narrow, winding streets, pastel-colored buildings, and charming squares. It's a delightful place to wander and explore.

Afterwards you will continue to the French Riviera; arrival in Nice at the end of the afternoon. 

Nice is situated on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea, making it a popular destination for beachgoers. The city is surrounded by picturesque hills and is part of the French Riviera, which is celebrated for its natural beauty.

Greca Tip: Nice hosts various events and festivals, including the Nice Carnival, one of the largest and most famous carnivals in the world. The city also has a prominent jazz festival and other cultural celebrations.

After an exquisite breakfast, you will spend a short time in Nice to enjoy the Promenade des Anglais. It is a famous coastal avenue that was built in the 19th century and takes its name from the English tourists who used to visit the city at that time.

Later you will continue to Saint Maxime, a beautiful small coastal town, to walk through its port and its historic center where the "Square Tower" from the 16th century stands out. From there you will take a tourist boat to cross the beautiful bay and arrive by sea to Saint Tropez, where in its old fishing port you may see some of the most luxurious yachts in the world. Time to walk and have lunch.

You will continue to Marseille, the second city of France. It is the capital of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region and is known for its rich history, ancient port, and cultural diversity.

Greca Tip: Marseille is a multicultural city with influences from North Africa and the Mediterranean. This is reflected in their food, with dishes such as bouillabaisse (a local fish soup) and other Mediterranean delicacies.

Today you will visit, after breakfast, some of the most beautiful places in Provence. The first stop will be in Arles, a World Heritage city that shows us its legacy from Roman and medieval times and reminds us of Van Gogh.

You will make another stop in Les Beaux, where you will have the opportunity to get to know this small medieval town and we will include the entrance to Carrieres de Lumiere, an impressive spectacle of art, image, and sound underground, in some old quarries.

Then you will have time for lunch and a walk in Avignon, it is known for its rich cultural heritage, its medieval architecture, and its historical importance as a papal seat during the 14th century.

The Palace of the Popes (Palais des Papes) is one of the main landmarks of Avignon. During the 14th century, Avignon was the seat of the papacy, and the palace was the residence of several popes. It is a stunning example of Gothic architecture and one of the largest and most beautiful palaces of the Middle Ages.

Later you will continue to Lyon, where you are going to spend the night. Once there you can walk through the old quarter declared a World Heritage Site and you will include the funicular to go up to Notre Dame de Fourviere, an immense basilica from where we have a great view of the city.

Greca Tip: The Provence region is known for its delicious cuisine, and Avignon is no exception. Local dishes include ratatouille, bouillabaisse, and regional wines.

You will leave Lyon towards Burgundy, after breakfast and make a stop in Tournus, a pleasant small town with its immense stone gate and its great abbey.

After that, we travel to Beaune where you will have time to walk and have lunch. It is one of the most prominent cities in the Burgundy wine region and is known for its rich cultural heritage, medieval architecture, and, above all, for being the center of the region's wine production.

We later visit the Savigny Castle in the center of this wine region, built in the 15th century, housing some extraordinary museums (museum of motorcycles, racing cars, airplanes and helicopters!).

Finally, you will travel to Dijon, the capital of Burgundy, with its lively streets, and the magnificent urban complex with its numerous medieval and Renaissance buildings.

Greca Tip: Dijon is famous for its mustard, which has been produced in the region for centuries.

After a wonderful breakfast, you will leave Dijon towards Fontenay Abbey, a World Heritage Site, we include entrance to this center of the Cistercian order. After that, you will visit Semur en Auxois, which is a medieval city surrounded by impressive walls.

Even in Burgundy, you will have time to have lunch and walk in Vezelay, one of the most beautiful towns in France that is recognized since its immense basilica was one of the starting points of the Camino de Santiago (Way of St James).

In the afternoon you are going to continue your route towards Paris, where you will arrive in the middle of the afternoon.

Greca Tip: Semur-en-Auxois has several historic churches, including the Church of Notre Dame, which dates back to the 13th century. This church features impressive Gothic architecture and is an important religious site.

After a wonderful breakfast, our transfer will take you to the airport to board your next destination.
