Excursion Itinerary: North Croatia From Zagreb In Private

Departure in the morning. Meeting at your hotel at the previously scheduled time. First you are going to visit Trakošćan Castle, one of the most beautiful and most visited castles in Croatia and Europe, located less than an hour from Zagreb. It was built in the 13th century. as part of the fortification system and rebuilt in the neo-Gothic style in 1850, when it acquired its present appearance.
You are going to walk around the lake and enjoy the English-style park. Ascent to the castle and visit inside the castle. The guide will tell you some stories of the families that have lived there since the Middle Ages. You will be able to imagine how people lived in castles.
After visiting the castle, continue to Varaždin, the best-preserved Habsburg-era city in Croatia called "Little Vienna". The city is a typical example of Baroque architecture. It is interesting to know that Varaždin was the capital of Croatia for a time in the 18th century. Discover the main attractions of Varaždin: the Cathedral, the Theatre, the Town Hall, the Sermage Palace, the Old Town Castle, the Varaždin Cemetery which is one of the pearls of garden architecture.
You will have free time for lunch before heading back to your accommodation in Zagreb.
Greca Tip: Be sure to try some delicious specialties from the Zagorje region such as Zagorje soup, roast turkey with mlinci or Zagorje štrukli (phyllo dough stuffed with fresh cheese mixed with cream and egg).
