Excursion Itinerary: Ouarzazate Essential From Marrakech
Early in the morning, you will be picked up to start this excursion to Ouarzazate, known as "The Gate of the Desert", the tourist city near the Atlas Mountains and the Draa River Valley.
The route changes its landscape, without even realizing it: you will go from the strong green of the valleys, through the red ocher of Tizin Tichka and even the pre-desert grey. You will cross terraced villages with fertile crops until you reach the most important point of the trip, the Kasbah (walled city built with clay and stone) of Ait Ben Haddou, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, and the most imposing in southern Morocco.
In different shades of red, depending on the time of day, its many battlemented towers seem to be attached to the mountain. Excellently preserved, this city has served as the setting for numerous films.
Next you will visit the Kasbah Taourirt, which in other times used to be the residence of the pasha (title similar to governor or king) of Marrakech, built in adobe with crenellated towers. Here you will visit the former quarters of Pacha el Glaoui, who received his title for his service in the civil war.
After the visit, you will begin the return to the city of Marrakech.
