MYKONOS CRUISE - SAILING THE AEGEAN LIKE ODYSSEUS

MYKONOS CRUISE - SAILING THE AEGEAN LIKE ODYSSEUS

In the morning and after a tasty breakfast, one of our vehicles will be waiting for you along with your assistant to transfer you to the port of Piraeus, where you will embark on your cruise ship. During the cruise, you will enjoy the brilliance of the sun, the deep blue of the Aegean and take part in the activities offered. In this package, Greca includes three meals, two excursions, and unlimited alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.  In this way your only concern will be how to make the most of it and have a great time.

Your first destination will be the famous island of Mykonos where the cruise ship will dock from 6:00 p.m. until 11:00 p.m. Mykonos is the meeting point of the international "jet set" for its wonderful beaches, dazzling shops, and vibrant nightlife that contribute to its well-deserved reputation.

Moreover, you may also wish to visit the historic island of Delos, the birthplace of Apollo and Artemis according to the Greek mythology. This small island, inhabited since 3000 a.C., was one of the most significant cultural centers of Antiquity.

Finally, you will have the opportunity to pre-book other excursions organized by the cruise company before continuing your cruise in the wonderful Greek islands.

Greca Tip:

CRUISE KUSADASI AND PATMOS
4
CRUISE KUSADASI AND PATMOS

At 07:30 am, after a calm and comfortable night's cruising, you will awaken at the Turkish coast and in the port of Kusadasi. The starting point of your shore excursion will be the ancient city of Ephesus once visited by Saint Paul, Marc Antony, and Cleopatra, among others.  Ephesus was one of the twelve Ionian cities and flourished as an important cultural, religious and commercial center.

At noon, the cruise will depart again, this time to the island of Patmos where Saint John wrote the Apocalypse and Jesus Christ was revealed to him in the Grotto of the Apocalypse.

From 05:45 pm to 09:00 pm, you will have the time to visit the cave, the monastery dedicated to Saint John and to stroll in the port of this small but so important island.

Tip Greca: Be sure to buy a souvenir from the small shops in the Port of Patmos that will remind you of your stay in this fascinating place.

CRUISE - THE MINOTAUR OF HERAKLION & SANTORINI

CRUISE - THE MINOTAUR OF HERAKLION & SANTORINI

After a generous breakfast, you will awaken in the largest Greek island, Crete. More precisely you will start your day in Heraklion, the capital of the island and home of King Minos and his minotaur. This city was the most significant of the Minoan civilization, with the oldest palatial complex in Europe, the Palace of Knossos.

Free morning and then around noon we will depart for the amazing and picturesque island of Santorini. As our cruise ship approaches the island we are filled with admiration and awe. It is the perfect moment to capture the beauty of the capital city of Fira and its white houses overhanging the cliff that overlooks the volcano. From 4:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. you will be able to explore it through its winding narrow streets and watch one of the most beautiful sunsets in the world, from one of the numerous pastry and coffee shops burgeoning on the hillside.

FROM ATHENS TO DELPHI, THE NAVEL OF THE ANCIENT WORLD AND METEORA
6
FROM ATHENS TO DELPHI, THE NAVEL OF THE ANCIENT WORLD AND METEORA

Upon arrival at the port of Piraeus early in the morning, you will be transferred to the center of Athens to embark on our 2-day excursion to Delphi & Meteora.

Leaving Athens, the landscape begins to change from arid to majestic and imposing, passing through the area of Thebes, to the foothills of Mount Parnassus and Arahova.

On the lower southern slopes of M. Parnassos there are a pair of hills called the Fedriades, and it is here where the site of Delphi, the center of the ancient world or "navel" of the Earth is located.

Delphi dedicated to god Apollo, the patron of music and guardian of the sacred laws of Zeus, hosted the Oracle, the priestess whose profesies influenced states and individuals alike. Apollo spoke through her in an incomprehensible language, which was then interpreted by the priests of the temple.

You will walk along the Sacred Way winding up to the temple of Apollo, which was decorated with innumerable offerings made by Greek and foreign cities.

After this astonishing tour, you will leave the slopes of Mount Parnassus and head towards the plain of Thessaly where the city of Kalambaka is located. Arrival in Kalambaka, dinner and accommodation.

Greca Tip: During the short stop at Arachova look for the traditional woven carpets (flocati rugs), woodwork, dry wines, honey and the local cheese as a going-away gift.

FROM KALAMBAKA TO ATTICA - ATHENS
7
FROM KALAMBAKA TO ATTICA - ATHENS

Early in the morning you will visit Meteora, also recognised by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site since 1988.  In this mysterious landscape, the natural beauty is combined with the compelling presence of the eternal monasteries suspended or "meteora" on top of the huge rocks. Currently there remain only six in use, five for the male and one for the female monastic community.

On the way back to Athens, you will pass by Thermopylae, where you can see the statue of the Spartan King Leonidas I, famous for leading the battle against the Persians in 480 BC. Arrival in Athens in the afternoon and drop off at your hotel.

Greca Tip: Dresscode in the monasteries: Sleeveless clothing and shorts over the knee for men are prohibited. For ladies skirts and shawls are available at the entrance in case they don’t have such clothing to cover themselves.

Have a nice trip! or as Greeks say: "Kalo taksidi!"
